Our Property Taxes are on the Rise!

Homeowners can expect to pay more in property taxes this year!  According to The Boston Globe, we can expect that the average bill for a single-family home will increase by $206 in 2016.  This is a 3.9% increase over last year; WOW! and this looks like this: last year's average tax bill for a single-family home was $5232 and this year it is $5438,according to a Globe analysis "of 328 of the stat's 351 communities for which comparable data were available".

"Since 2006, the increase in property taxes has far outpaced the increase in property values, with average bills rising 42% while property values have dropped 0.7% according to the Globe's analysis of 328 towns and cities."

Coming soon--The Militello Team, selling real estate North of Boston on the North Shore in Essex County, will have all the new tax rates posted for your convenience.  What you need to realize if you are a RENTER these tax increases affect you more than homeowners.  When you rent the increases you get are at the whim of the landlord which may be well over the amounts sited by The Boston Globe. Here is an article that supports our claim  http://goo.gl/dlk72a it is an ez read!
